History
This Vidyalaya, the fifth unit of VES was started in 1976. The Vidyalaya which began with strength of 168 students at a rented place in Chromepet has grown today, into a Higher Secondary School up to XII Std. with strength of 3477 students and is housed in four different imposing blocks.
Donors
Sri Sreelal Fomra, a well known businessman, educationist and philanthropist and his family, gave generous donation of over Rs. 12 lakhs for the school. In recognition of his great service, the school is named after his mother Smt. Ramkuwar Devi.
Grants from Lions Club
The Lions club of Pallavapuram sponsored the Vidyalaya. Besides Sri K. Sadagopan, Prof. N. Narasimhan, Sri C R Narasimhan, Sri Varadhachary and several senior members of the club continue to guide the school in its entire Endeavour. The school auditorium was built with the grants received from Lions Clubs International.

Sri K. Sadagopan was the founder Correspondent of the Vidyalaya. The service rendered during his tenure is a remarkable one and is imprinted in the history of SRDF Vivekananda Vidyalaya. He served the Vidyalaya for 24 years. Later, he served as the Joint secretary of the Vivekananda Educational Society from 2000 till 2009. His wise counsel is continued to be sought by the Society and the Vidyalaya.
