Deeksha Camp
18th April to 20th April 2015
Deeksha Camp is conducted every year for the students who enter X std in our school where children are taught the art of living in the society. It provides children an opportunity to work together and inculcate values in life. The camp is organized in a well planned manner by the teachers under the guidance of our Principal, Vice Principals and management. Students are engaged in various types of works and given various responsibilities during the camp so as to develop their leadership qualities.
The registration of the camp began at 4.30 p.m on 18th April 2015. This year for the first time the camp began with games organised by RSS Shaka Members which created a joyous moment for the campers and motivated to take up the Deeksha camp with full vigour. The inaugural session began with the prayer and camp song. The Principal welcomed the students and insisted that the motto of the camp is serving others, understanding the life and respecting other’s feelings.
Sri Sivasankaran, Customer Service Manager, Mitsubishi, RSS Mukhya Pramukh gave the scientific reasons behind temple kalasam & Direction of Guru Dakshina Murthy in temples. After dinner, students displayed their talents through skit, miming, dance, group song and fusion.
This year service activities were taken up at Nerumbur Village, Thirukazhakundram Taluk. A few teachers visited the village to know the topography of the village, population, basic amenities available etc.
On 19.04.2015, students departed to Nerumbur village in 7 buses along with the members of Uzhavarapani at 6.30 am and reached the place by 9.00 am. Students had breakfast at the “Adi Dravidar Govt. School”, Nerumbur. There the students were divided into 24 groups where each group was assigned a specific project like Uzhavarapani – Temple cleaning, taking survey of the villagers, assisting in Medical Camp, helping in kolam competition, Villaku Pooja etc. Drawing, Quiz competitions, Running Race and Musical chair were conducted for the school children at the school premises. Soon after the competition our Principal distributed prizes for the students. Stationery items and sports materials were donated to the school.
A team from K.K Eye Care and Dr. Kayalvizhi, General Physician took up the medical camp. Nearly 75 villagers attended the medical camp and were benefited by it. Abhishekam was performed in five temples and prasadam was distributed. Students assembled for Vilakku Pooja at Muthu Mariamman Temple in their traditional dress. Nearly 62 ladies of the village participated in Vilakku Pooja.our students rendered Bhajan and entertained the gathering. Three participant’s names of Villakku Pooja were selected for Lucky Dip. They were given silver vilakku. Prizes were distributed for the kolam competition.
On 20.04.2015 at 6.00 am students took up prarthasmaran followed by Yoga and minor games. The First session was taken up by Shri Natarajan, writer. He spoke about fundamental aspects of development given by schools. He asked students to have a very good relationship with school, respect teachers, have extensive reading habit and improve their grammar skills.
The next session “Living with Nature” was taken up Dr. Prakash, Naturopathy. He began his speech how illness and wellness are related. He spoke about the importance of essential fatty acids, enzymes, hormones and microbes for a healthy living. He gave some first aid tips for the students.
Subhashitham was read out by the students in the sessions.
At 12.45 pm feedback session was taken by students which gave an opportunity to share their experience of Deeksha Camp. It was summoned up by our Shri R. Ravindran, Hony. Correspondent.
Swami Buddhidanandaji from Sri Ramakrishna Math spoke to the students on being good students and good citizen of the country.

Deeksha Camp is conducted every year for the students who enter X from IX where children are taught the art of living in society.
It provides children an opportunity to work together and inculcate good values in life. The camp was organized in a well planned manner by the teachers under the able guidance of our Principal, Vice Principals and Management. Students were deputed and given various responsibilities during the camp so as to foster leadership qualities.
The registration of the camp began at 7 p.m. on 20th April, 2013 Saturday. The very first session of the camp began with the prayer and camp song. Subhashitham was read out by the students in all the sessions. Principal welcomed the gathering and the guest of the day who inaugurated the camp Shri. R. Venkatasubramaniam, Pallavapuram Bhagh Karyavah, RSS, SMDC member. Principal said that the motto of the camp is serving others, understand the life of the poor and the needy and respect other’s feelings. Shri Venkatasubramaniam, said that “Treating everybody as Sivaswaroopam leads to the development of human race”. He conducted a game for target and goal setting in which students enthusiastically participated.
This year a unique concept of visiting a village a few kms away from Chennai was agreed upon. It was decided to take the students to a village by name “Puliyur” near Thiurkazukundram. It involved a meticulous planning prior to the actual visit. A team of teachers visited the village to know about the topography of the village, population, basic amenities available etc. The team also started the ground work and made elaborate plans for the smooth execution of the camp at the village.
On Sunday (21.04.2013), Students departed to Puliyur village in 7 buses along with the 28 members of Uzhayavarapani (Parents) at 6.30 a.m. and reached the place by 8.30 a.m. Students had breakfast at the panchayat school of Puliyur. They were divided into 18 groups where each group was assigned a specific project like Uzhayavarapani – Temple Cleaning, Taking survey of the villagers, Medical Camp, Drawing Competition for the School children of Puliyur, Kolam Competition, Villakku pooja for the villagers and tree planting. Sports materials were donated to the school. Students of Puliyur were given all stationery items.
Medical camp was attended by 100 villagers. A few of them were detected with Cataract and were taken to Hindu Mission Hospital for Surgery the very same day. We are thankful to the staff of Hindu Mission Hospital for their service in the medical camp. 5 doctors and around 9 members to assist came to Puliyur. A very great service minded people.
We had a sumptuous lunch at 12.30 p.m. At 4 p.m, Tree planting ceremony went on at Puliyur school premises with the municipal councilor. Students assembled at Selliamman Temple for Villakku Pooja. Thanks to Shri Srinivasan who organized the pooja. He elaborately explained the rituals and made the village people understand why villakku pooja is done. There was an over whelming response. Around 85 participants took part in the pooja.
At 5p.m. Volley Ball match for the village youngsters was conducted. Prizes were distributed to the winners of Volley ball and Kolam Competition.
Soon after the Drawing Competition, principal distributed the prizes for the children. We thank the members of Uzhavarapani (Parents) for their assistance. After Prasatham distribution students boarded the bus and reached the school by 9 p.m.
On 22nd April 2013, after the breakfast there was a session on Naturotherapy for the students. The speaker of the session was Shri. Prakash, Naturotheraphist. He briefed about life style of the present days focusing on target, importance of silence, appreciating and loving everyone around us, importance of fruits and vegetables and food habits. He advised students to avoid junk food and take to fresh food and green vegetables.
At 11 a.m. Smt. Vijayalakshmi, Manavala Kalai, spoke on “How to face challenges”. She insisted on a regular yoga practice to increase concentration which is very important for a student’s life all the more.
In the Valedictory Session Shri. Meenakshisundaram, Secretary,Vivekananda Educational Trust addressed the students on the concept “Desiyamum Aanmeegamum” to kindle the patriotic fervor. He cited plenty of examples to make students know about our ancient culture and the patriotism in all those who reigned us in the way back century. Students were given food not only for their thought but also delicious food was served to satiate their hunger.
In all the new venture of the Deeksha Camp highlighted different aspects of life and existence of people’s life in remote areas. Around 239 students in number untiringly took up the entire work on their shoulders were really successful.
29th to 31st March 2012

The Deeksha Camp is conducted every year in our school for the students moving from IX to X std where children are taught the art of living in the society. It provides children an opportunity to work together and inculcate values in life for holistic development of their personality. The students are deputed as leaders to work as a team to carry out various responsibilities like registration, accommodation, water cleanliness, stage arrangement, bhajan etc.
The registration of the camp at 7.00 p.m on 29th March. Shri Kalyanji briefed the students very clearly the purpose of the camp and also how to approach the people for various programmes which were to be held the next day with an interactive session.
th March the inauguration of the camp began with a prayer. The chief guest of the day was Shri Ramakrishna Prasadji.
After inauguration the students were divided into groups to take up survey in different localities banglamali, sathyavani muthu nagar etc. Kuthuvillaku Pooja, health camp, kolapotti and kabaddi potti were conducted.
Counselling session was conducted by VES Student Counsellor Smt. Soshina.
An informative speech was given by eminent doctors like Dr. Jayanandhini Ramachandran, personal health and hygiene for girls through multimedia presentation and Dr. Mrs. Manickam on obesity and food habits and importance of physical excercises for boys. Group discussions were taken up by the students.
On 31st March we had motivating speech by Shri Viswanathanji on how to face the conflict. He also narrated incidents from freedom struggle. On valedictory session Sri Sadagopanji summed up the values which students inculcate by attending such camps.
23rd & 24th April 2011

Deeksha Camp was organized for students going from IX to X std. The camp is conducted every year to help our students become better human beings in the society. The purpose is to enable our students to inculcate higher values in life for holistic development . 28 students were deputed as leaders to work as a team to carry out various responsibilities like Registration, Accommodation, Water, Sanitation, Stage arrangements, Bhojan etc.
After inaugural function the students were divided into various groups. They went to Banglamalai, Sathyavani Muthu Nagar, Thirumalai Kunnam which had been adopted by the school. Some students took up walkathon to create an environmental awareness by carrying placards like AVOID PLASTICS, RAIN WATER HARVESTING, SAVE WATER SAVE LIFE.
Group Discussion, Quiz etc. were also taken up by the students. Students participated in Bhajan at Kumaran Kundram Temple.
For valedictory session Dr. Ravichander co-ordinator V,Set was the chief guest.
